Members live in and around the greater Charlotte Metro area. We walk city parades, brighten school fairs, visit nursing homes, clown around at festivals, and attend charity and outreach events. The Carolina Clowns attend events in Davidson, Waxhaw, Concord, Pineville, Monroe, Belmont, and the many other towns and cities in and around an hour’s drive from the Charlotte area.
Nothing! We do not charge for appearances.
No. We are not party clowns and do not attend personal parties or for profit business events.
We understand and are not offended when people are uncomfortable or afraid of clowns. Members of Carolina Clowns try their best to be respectful of people we meet that are frightened or dislike clowns.
Real clowns are not scary on purpose and are not horror icons. Those are actors for Halloween events, films, or people in purposefully scary costumes. Carolina Clowns are not horror actors and do not participate in “haunted” events or activities.
Please call, email, or contact us using our contact form here on the website. We meet on the first Monday of each month to discuss and review appearance requests.
This depends on the type of event and how much notice our group has in advance. Please understand that our members are doing this outside of their daily employment, family, and personal obligations and may have prior engagements. We will do our best to fulfill an appearance request.
Each clown is different and is their own performer. Some of us do balloon twisting. Some members are able to do some magic while others may offer face painting. Other like to tell jokes, goof around, or blow bubbles. Members have played instruments, sang, and performed skits.
Ranks are given to each member based on the number of appearances they have made since joining.
Lifetime Members are clowns that have been given the hard earned Comedy & Tragedy Award which signifies their outstanding dedication and contribution to the organization. They remain members of Carolina Clowns no matter how active or inactive they are in the group.
Absolutely! And thank you! We gladly accept and greatly appreciate any donations. Donations can be made payable by check, cash, or through our donation page. Donorbox helps us process card donations, Paypal, Venmo, and Stripe.
Yes! Each member is responsible for applying their own makeup, creating or purchasing their outfit, and maintaining their props. But we are always sharing tips, exchanging material, and learning and growing with each other. New clowns are given a mentor within the group to help them get started.
We would love to have you join Carolina Clowns! Applicants must be 18 or older and be able to pass a background check. We do not train people to be party or circus clowns. If you are interested in being a clown for charity, outreach, and public events and are able to make regular commitments then please see the “Join CC” page for more information.
Thank you for asking! Please contact us to talk to the group about ways you may be able to contribute. We are always appreciative of picture submissions, roster photo shoots, technical help, social media support, and community partners.
