Our Clowns

Bipps Chair of the Board

Bipps has been an active member of the Carolina Clowns for nearly 33 years. She joined in August of 1991 and has held almost every office the organization has. Some of them several times. She acheived the highest rank in the Carolina Clowns as a Top Banana early in her career. She has also been voted a recipient of the Comedy and Tragedy award which means she is a Lifetime Member of our group. You have probably seen Bipps bicycling down Tryon Street in the Novant Thanksgiving Parade. Bipps and her husband are also active in their Church and the play Mr. and Mrs Claus during the Christmas season. Bipps is still extremely active as a carolina Clown.

Ragus President

Ragus has been an active member of Carolina

Clowns for for almost 43 years. He is our oldest active member. He joined in June of 1981. Ragus is a Top Banana Clown with well over 100 appearances. He has served as Chairman of ther Boasrd, President, Ist Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian.

He has held many of these offices several times.

As a Carolina Clown with 100's of appearances to his credit, he acheived the highest clown rank as Top Banana

early in his career. He has also been presented the Comedy and Tragedy Award which makes him a Lifetime member of the organization. Ragus is still very active as a Carolina Clown.

Sparkle 1st Vice President

Sparkle joined the Carolina Clowns in August of 1993. She will have 31 years of serving as a Carolina Clown. As you can see, Sparkle is a White Face Clown. She likes to entertain by getting people to help her with her great magic show. Sparkle has served the clowns as President, 1st and 2nd vice president, and secretary. Some of these offices she has held more than once. Sparkle has won appearance awards, Best New Clown award, and Clown of the Year. As a Comedy and Tragedy Award recipient Sparkle is a Lifetime Clown. She has done 100's of appearance as a Top Banana award winner.

Gimpy 2nd Vice President

One of Gimpy's biggest jobs as a Carolina Clowns is serving as our current appearance chairperson which is just one of the duties of this position. He is responsible for making sure we reach out to people who would like our organization to work community events. He is a Top Banana Clown with over 100 appearances. Gimpy is a happy Hobo Clown. One of his favorite clown routines is pulling gold coins from unexpecting children's ears. He was recently selected for the Comedy and Tragedy award which makes him a lifetime clown. Gimpy and his wife really enjoy watching their grandsons participate in many different sporting events. Gimpy is still an active clown.

Noodle Secretary

Noodle stays very busy as the Secretary of out Carolina Clowns. Her many job duties include taking the minutes for our monthly meetings and handling all incoming and outgoing correspondence for the organization. Noodle has been a Carolina Clown for almost 32 years and has is a Lifetime member by virtue od being selected as a Comedy and Tragedy award winner. Noodle has won appearance awards, Clown of the year awards and is a very funny clown. She loves working with all the clowns and is still very active.

Cookie Treasurer

Cookie has been clowning with the Carolina Clowns since 2016. She has kept the clowns straight on our finances by being treasurer for several terms. Cookie is a Top Banana Clown and was recently selected as a Lifetime member by receiving the Comedy and Tragedy Award

Lollipop

Lollipop is a lifetime clown who served our organization in many capacities. She was a past president, chair, and held other offices.

Lovie Dovie

Lovie Dovie joined the Clowns in January 2018. In December she was recognized as "Rookie Clown of the Year." In 2023 she reached the rank of Clown of Excellence. She attended clown school in 2018 and hopes to go again soon. She loves walking in parades and entertaining kids of all ages.

Lovie Dovie's other passions include gardening ( she is an American Rose Society Horticulturist judge at Rose shows in North and South Carolina.

She also enjoys playing and watching golf and spending as much time as she can with her grandkids.

Chef

Chef started clowning with the Carolina Clowns in 1986. After 11 years, his regular job began demanding more time so Chef stopped clowning until December of 2013. When Chef started in 1986 he was a white face clown known as Tubsy. He later went on to become Herbie and dressed as a Hobo Clown. Chef the Character Clown loves going to nursing homes and enjoyed hospital clowning. He likes parades and enjoys school appearances. He has serve as Chairman of the Board, President, Secretary, and both Vice President positions within the clowns. He is a Top Banana clown and a winner of the Comedy and Tragedy award.

Itsy-Bitsy

Itsy-Bitsy is a lifetime clown who enjoys working with kids of all ages. She is a dancing clown and loves to do parades and nursing homes.

Tilly

Tilly is a retired Lifetime member of the Carolina Clowns She retired as a Top Banana Clown.

Buttons

Buttons Buttons the Clown was a Carolina Clown for more than 19 years. She was a Top Banana. She won the Comedy and Tragedy Award and was a Lifetime member of our Organization. It was fun to see the reactions of the folks when Buttons offered them some of her Brown E's.

Buttons pass in March of 2024 and is now passing out those Brown E's in heaven. We will miss you Buttons.

Rowdy

Rowdy joined the Carolina Clowns in June of 2013. He quickly achieved the rank of Top Banana. Rowdy has attended Circus Magic Convention to help sharpen his clown skills and also enjoys being an active member of his Church. Rowdy's appearances reflect his total joy of "Bringing sunshine to both children and adults. Rowdy always has a little something for everyone. Rowdy has won "Most Appearances of the Year" award for the clowns several times.

Snickles

Snickles retired as a Lifetime Member who achieved the Top Banana Rank. She now lives in Ohio.

SooGee

SooGee retired as a Top Banana

Lifetime Member and now lives in Virginia
